Promoting Public Appreciation of the Arts
Ashdown Arts exists to promote the artistic endeavours of the membership and in so doing, promote a strong local arts economy for the enrichment of the community and livelihood of the members. Membership is centred on Forest Row but includes artists from Uckfield to East Grinstead.
EXHIBITIONS
Our most recent group exhibition took place in 24-31st August 2020, at the Scout HQ in Forest Row. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists along the adjoining Forest Way. Members were involved in creating art work for most of the time we were open. Generally the event was a success, so we will plan to repeat next year.
The committee had hoped to have the main Autumn exhibition in September, but cancelled because of the risks Covid 19.
An exhibition took place in March at the Ashdown Forest Centre.
If members have ideas for exhibition venues that could be compliant or activities, please let me know: don.collishaw@btinternet.com
We have arrangements for individuals to display at the Mug Tree Tea Room in East Grinstead
GROUP ART
As Winter progresses, Ashdown Arts could have `use your sketch-book` days for members, as well as Plein Air sessions, as they involve shorter stops and can allow warmer clothes.
Plein Air and Group Painting Sessions took place during the summer. In July 2020 a group of members painted at Busses Farm near East Grinstead. Earlier a group of members met to paint shadow pictures.
WEBSITE
The website is available to members to display examples of their work and link to their own sites. It does provide our window to the world, though it is currently being re-developed.We are building up the clubs presence on Facebook, by linking it to members.
MEMBER’S NEWS
Information on Open Art opportunities are circulated to members and member’s news can be circulated to our mailing group.
